FAQs
Why choose meal prep?
On average, Americans eat 4 to 5 meals out every week. The vast majority of this food is inflammatory - causing everything from fatigue and depression to chronic diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Besides that, it’s expensive! And, it further distances us from the tactile work of being human and making food. Is that too dramatic?
Do I have to sign a contract?
Nope, no contracts here. You can start and end your service whenever you please. We make our schedule at the beginning of the month and ask you which days you would like to reserve. We ask for at least one week’s notice if you need to cancel.
How do you charge?
We charge a flat weekly rate according to the number of meals and servings. The per meal rate decreases proportionally as you order more meals. We also offer monthly rates that reflect discounted pricing.
The flat rate covers the labor and time of menu planning, grocery shopping, traveling to your home, cooking, and cleaning.
Grocery cost is a direct reimbursement, and is billed at the end of each month.
We understand that staying within your budget is imperative, and can work with you to create an affordable plan.
How do I choose which meals you make?
We will create a personalized menu for you that takes into consideration your taste profile, allergies and intolerances, and cuisine preferences. The Friday before your scheduled cook date, we will email you a menu that includes extra options to choose from. Just let us know your choices by Sunday at 5pm and if you would like any adjustments made to your order.
Can you accommodate multiple allergies and intolerances?
Sure thing! If you’re a family that has multiple preferences/allergies/intolerances we will prepare a menu that satisfies everyone.
How do I reheat my prepared dinner?
We will leave a Reheat Instruction card with your order.
Each one of our meals will vary in the best way to reheat it. Soups and stews may be best to reheat in a covered pot on the stovetop on medium heat. Warm meals are best reheated in a 350F oven for about 15 minutes. For anything that you want to crisp up, reheat at 450F until crispy. If you have any questions about how to reheat a meal, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
Why do we prefer organic?
Organic food has been grown or processed without the use of synthetic pesticides or chemical additives and is never genetically modified. These chemicals are toxic to the body, and trigger an immune response that catalyzes an inflammatory reaction.
Over the long term, chronic inflammation can lead to countless diseases. In the same way that these chemicals are toxic for our bodies, they are toxic for our planet.
Ultimately, whether we purchase organic remains up to you.
Why pasture raised eggs?
Purchasing eggs can be confusing. The reality is that chickens, and thus their eggs, are their healthiest and happiest when they have access to the outdoors, sunlight, insects, and grass (sort of like us). This is why we don’t purchase cage-free, free range, or organic eggs, but pasture-raised eggs. Free-range and cage-free are “fluff words” that don’t have a standardized definition, and Organic (in the case of eggs) simply means that the hens are eating organic feed rather than what they should be eating - insects and critters.
Do I have to be home while you cook?
Nope! As long as you give us a way to enter and exit your home safely, you don’t need to be home while we cook.
